Open enrollment for 2024 fully-insured individual plans begins this year on November 1st, 2023, and runs through January 15th, 2024.
For ACA plans, typically anyone can enroll during “Open Enrollment” which runs Nov 1–Jan 15, and outside of those dates, people need a qualifying “life change” to enroll (such as a birth, marriage, moving cities, etc.).
New Mexico is allowing anyone with an income equal or less than 200% of the federal poverty level to enroll without a qualifying life change. That means that a single person making less than $2147/month, or a family of three making less than $3660/month would qualify to enroll at any time of the year. This special enrollment reason does not require that you previously had insurance, or that you recently lost coverage.
If you are currently insured, November 1st through December 15th is used to select your new plan to begin January 1st of 2024. If you are receiving a tax credit that helps reduce your monthly premium cost, you must update and submit an application in order to pick a plan for 2024. We are here to help.
